One Pan Bold Honey BBQ Chicken

This sweet, smoky, and sticky chicken and rice dish comes together in a single skillet. Perfect for busy weeknights.

Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 15 minutes
Servings: 3–4

Ingredients

Chicken & base:

  • 2 large chicken breasts, diced

  • 2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)

Bold honey BBQ sauce:

  • ½ cup BBQ sauce

  • ¼ cup honey

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp minced garlic

Seasoning & aromatics:

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp paprika

  • ¼ tsp chili flakes (optional, for heat)

Instructions

1. Sauté the garlic
Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.

2. Brown the chicken
Add the diced chicken, black pepper, and paprika to the skillet. Cook until the chicken is lightly browned on all sides (about 5–6 minutes).

3. Build the sauce
Stir in the BBQ sauce, honey, soy sauce, and chili flakes (if using). Simmer for 3–4 minutes, until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.

4. Add the rice
Add the cooked rice directly to the skillet. Stir well until every grain is coated in the honey BBQ glaze.

5. Finish and serve
Cook for 2 more minutes, until everything is hot and glossy. Serve immediately.

Tips & Variations

  • Chicken swap – Use boneless, skinless chicken thighs instead of breasts for extra juiciness.

  • Make it spicy – Increase chili flakes or add a dash of hot sauce.

  • Add veggies – Toss in steamed broccoli, bell peppers, or snap peas when adding the rice.

  • Garnish – Sprinkle with sliced green onions or sesame seeds for a fresh finish.

  • Leftovers – Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat with a splash of water or extra BBQ sauce to loosen.

Enjoy your sticky, sweet, and savory one-pan meal!
